Seeking Help Can be Difficult

Reaching out for support isn't always easy. It can feel vulnerable, unfamiliar, or even overwhelming. If you've never been to therapy before, or if you're looking for a new therapist the process can feel intimidating. You might wonder if your struggles are “big enough” to warrant help or if anyone will truly understand what you're going through.

Making that first call or sitting down for an initial session can bring up uncertainty or nervous anticipation. That's completely natural. Others have been there—I've been there. The truth is, seeking support is an act of strength. I'm not here to judge you, but rather I come with a genuine interest in understanding your story. Together, in relationship, you may discover healing that is needed or hurts that were pushed aside—hurts you may not have recognized were creating disharmony for you.

We'll move at a pace that feels right for you, exploring what you need with warmth, care, and curiosity. And if Scottie is in the room, he'll be right there too—offering his quiet, steady presence when words aren't enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from a therapy session with you?

Every session is a collaborative process where we explore your experiences, emotions, and challenges in a safe, supportive space. My approach is relational and trauma-informed, integrating modalities like Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness techniques. If you're comfortable, my therapy dog, Scottie, may also be present, offering a warm and grounding presence.

Do you offer in-person, virtual, or phone sessions?

Yes! I offer in-person sessions at my office, virtual therapy via video, and phone sessions to accommodate different preferences. Additionally, I have some space to provide home visits for seniors or individuals who may have difficulty travelling, ensuring access to support in a way that meets your needs.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're struggling with grief, trauma, life transitions, or unresolved emotions from past experiences, therapy can provide a space to process and heal. Many people seek therapy not only during crises but also to deepen self-awareness, improve relationships, and navigate change. We can discuss your goals in an initial consultation to determine if we're a good fit.

Do you only work with adults, or do you see other age groups?

I primarily work with adults, including seniors, but I am open to supporting other age groups depending on the situation. My work often involves helping individuals and families navigate complex dynamics, grief, or major life transitions.

How do you support seniors and families navigating life transitions?

In addition to therapy, I offer social work support for seniors undergoing changes such as downsizing, moving to assisted living, or adjusting to loss. I also work with families who live far from their loved ones and need a trusted professional to provide guidance, advocacy, and emotional support during these transitions.
